What Do We Do?
SunningHill Jill Kids has forged ongoing and meaningful relationships with social workers at Levine Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, who can reach out to SHJK with a brief email describing a specific situation and financial request. SHJK can respond quickly, providing immediate and often critical financial assistance, reducing ineffeiciency and also freeing up social workers to spend more time with families who need them.
SHJK can also help patients whose age or condition might restrict them from receiving aid from other organizations. For example, the clinic treats patients up to age 26. However, many organizations cap their support at age 18, leaving a gap for young adults between ages 18 and 26. Moreover, SHJK is one of only two organizations that support patients at the clinic facing chronic blood diseases such as sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other uncategorized blood disorders.

A child’s illness becomes the most difficult of times; emotionally, mentally and financially. Treatment is expensive; parents and caregivers often need to take time off from their jobs to care for their children, while ongoing financial burdens such as mortgages, rent and utility bills don’t take a break.

Time Together
When a child or young adult is diagnosed with cancer or a chronic blood disorder, that illness takes a toll on the entire family. From the financial and physical challenge to the emotional, there is no escaping the tremendous burden of a serious illness.
SunningHill Jill Kids recognizes this and sends families on mountain getaways to provide time away from the incredible stress of a serious illness. We work with local businesses to provide customized experiences for families facing the unimaginable. Time away can be transformative to a family, creating priceless memories and providing hope even in the darkest of times.
Ipads
Since it was founded, SunningHill Jill Kids has donated over 1,000 iPads to children and young adults undergoing treatment for cancer or a chronic blood disease.
An iPad can provide connection, communication, and entertainment, while also showing love and compassion to a child and their family undergoing long treatments and recovery times. With your help we can bring a smile and a “BEST DAY” to as many kids as possible,
Holiday Support
Each year, Sunninghill Jill Kids provides families with Visa gift cards to help during the holidays. Thanks to your support, we can spread some extra comfort and joy during the holiday season.
Kids’ Cookoffs
Every few years, SunningHill Jill Kids hosts a special Kids’ Cookoff. At the event, kids undergoing treatment at the Levine Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center participate as ‘superhero chefs’ - assisting local celebrity chefs in a fun, positive, and interactive cookoff competition, with their families there to cheer them on! The cookoffs are incredibly joyful events that would not be possible without the help of countless generous sponsors, chefs, and donors – who all work together to create a magical experience for the kids.
